30 weeks, part 2

I went for my every-2-weeks doctor appointment yesterday, which was slightly interesting.  I was shocked when the scale said I had gained 4.4 pounds in 2 weeks!  To be fair, this was at 4:15 pm, and when I weighed myself this morning, I was down 3 pounds from yesterday afternoon (much closer to where I thought I should be).  I hate inconsistencies like that, but the doctor still didn't say anything about it.  My blood pressure was perfectly normal, which was great considering it has been slightly high every time until 2 weeks ago and yesterday.  I asked the doctor if he could tell how the baby is positioned right now, since I have a strong feeling he's still breech, although at this point he could still be flipping around all day long.  The doc felt around and said he thought he was head down, but he could be transverse.  Basically, he had no clue, which is fine for this point in the pregnancy.  It's still a little early to be able to tell without an ultrasound.  I did find it interesting that he said he could be transverse, because I have that same feeling most days.  Lately little Bruce has found it fun to shove his head into my right side, which can be slightly uncomfortable.  Again, he has plenty of time to turn and get into the proper position.

My OB office is a large practice with 8 (I think) doctors that deliver babies.  They like you to see a different doctor every time so you at least know the face that comes in to deliver your baby.  My next appointment is scheduled with my favorite doctor who I have seen twice before.  The thing is...she is due to have her baby about 5 weeks before me, so there is a slim to none chance she will deliver Mr. Bruce.  When they offered the appointment with her, I said yes because I like her so much, but I should have asked for someone else.  Oops.

We spent the past 2 days with my parents, due to Rodney having to work in the City.  My parents live 20 minutes away from the City, versus our 1 hour drive, so we stay with them for the 2 days a year he has to work up there.  The timing couldn't have worked out any better.  We were already up there for our last childbirth class on Tuesday and Rodney was able to go with me to my appointment yesterday.  It saved a lot of driving time for us.

When we got to my parents' house on Monday night, I saw they had pulled my old cradle down from the attic.

A friend of theirs made this 27 years ago when I was born.  My mom always like to joke that I didn't fit in it very long because I was such a big baby (9 pounds at birth).  I'm still not sure if we'll use it at our house, or maybe just leave it at their house for when we stay there.

So many thoughts running around in my head this week, but I'll leave it at that for now.

What a beautiful cradle!

Hopefully you didn't get too much traffic this past weekend. I got far, far away from the craziness!
