I don't know if Bruce is coming out of a growth spurt or what, but this boy has been moving nonstop for the past 3 days. I noticed on Friday that I was feeling lots of kicks on my right side, which was unusual because I used to feel 90% on my left side. It continued Saturday, so I just assumed he had switched positions. Evidently this new position is allowing for more movement, because since Sunday he has been moving like crazy. The average fetus weighs around 2 1/2 pounds right now, and I can't imagine what his movements will feel like when he weighs twice this much (plus some!).
We are halfway done with our childbirth classes and I feel like we're learning a lot. I hesitated to sign up, especially since we have an hour drive there, a 2-hour class, then an hour drive home, but they have been worthwhile. Last week we toured the labor and delivery area, which was exciting for us because it is a brand new hospital (like, opened just last month new). It's funny, R and I were both really excited for the first class because we just wanted to get started, and we were really excited to take our tour last week. Tonight we'll learn about C-sections and post-partum care. Yesterday R said to me, "I'm not that excited about our class tomorrow. Is that ok?" Yes honey, that's fine, because I'm not that excited either, but it's something we need to learn about.
I realized something sad this week...chocolate gives me heartburn. I haven't had a lot of heartburn during this pregnancy, just some here and there, but I noticed recently that both Reese cups and Twix bars gave me heartburn. I have been craving Twix lately, and Rodney doesn't understand why I eat them when I know I'll suffer (mildly) later.
I have been doing tons of research on cloth diapers the past few days. I would like to try cloth diapers, but not during the newborn stage. Rodney is onboard with the idea, but my mom thinks I'm crazy. I think she doesn't realized how far cloth diapers have come since I was a baby. Hopefully she'll support me when the time comes.
Week 29: a great OB appointment, heartburn, and crazy movement.
