Our little black monster

Don't let this face fool you. Our sweet little puppy has turned into a monster.

We left Cash in his crate for 2.5 hours while we ran some errands Saturday morning. R gave him a little exercise when he woke up and we gave Cash a filled Kong while we were gone. We came home to find that he had chewed through 2 layers of sheets in his crate and chewed through the old sleeping bag under the sheets. He hadn't even touched the Kong. We were very disappointed, he has always done so well in his crate.
Since then he has been tearing up his beds and being a general nuisance in his crate.
We're very frustrated. We feel there are 2 reasons why this is happening. 1) Cash is just about 7 months old now and is getting more energy every day. He is getting much harder to tire out with play. 2) It is getting harder to exercise him as the days get shorter. R comes home from work every day and takes Cash up in the fields to play and exercise, but then he sleeps the rest of the evening and is ready to play again at bedtime.
We live in a rural area with no sidewalks (or street lights) and our road is very narrow and curvy, so long walks are out of the question. We have a new plan to try tonight, and if that doesn't work we might try walking him in the subdivision down the road.
Thanks for letting me ramble on about this. I feel like a zombie today because our monster kept us up most of the night. I sure hope this gets better soon.
{Sorry about the spacing issues. Blogger is not showing the line breaks that I put in.}
