Men in the kitchen

R's mom called us this weekend and asked if we would invite his dad over for dinner tonight and tomorrow when she was going to be out of town. That was fine with us, we like having him, but I just wonder if she thought he wouldn't be ok on his own. He would have been fine on his own, she works late most nights and I'm sure he eats alone sometimes, but it made me think.

When I was younger my grandmother would go to Nebraska to visit her sisters for a week or 2 at a time. She would usually leave my grandfather several meals in the freezer (my Gran was a very good cook) and my mom and aunt would provide him any other meals that he needed. I'm guessing that was more of their generation, the woman always cooked for the man. Is it still that way today? Not in some households. I know there are plenty of husbands who do all of the cooking. I do most of the cooking here but Rodney certainly won't starve if I'm not home for dinner. What about you? Who cooks at your house?
