24 weeks

Saturday, April 13, 2013

How far along:  24 weeks

How big is baby:  just over a pound and almost a foot long, an ear of corn

Weight gain:  up approximately one pound this week for a total of 11 pounds

Stretch marks: none on the belly, minus one small suspicious mark near the belly button. Plenty on my hips and thighs from last pregnancy. I'm still unsure if there are any new stretch marks there or not.

Sleep: good this week, even when I had to sleep on the couch one night due to Rodney's stomach virus. And my back didn't even hurt the next day!

Cravings/aversions: nothing

Maternity clothes: yes

Movement: regular and consistent. I'm starting to feel more rolls and turns, and I'm feeling some sharp body part (knee? elbow?) pretty far above my belly button this week. He also goes through periods where his movement is very spastic and my belly will shake for several minutes at a time.

What I'm loving: not pregnancy related, but tax season is officially over and I get my husband back. He actually came home at 5:00 pm on Friday and it was wonderful!

Symptoms: my whole groin/crotch area was pretty achy and sore a couple of days this week but thankfully that has passed for now

What I'm looking forward to: finally getting to talk to a doctor (my favorite one) on Tuesday about my placenta previa. I left my last appointment in a little bit of shock after hearing the news and didn't have time to process it or ask questions. I am fully prepared with a long list of questions this week.

Best moment of the week: going shopping with my mom and Isaac. I got some new maternity clothes, Isaac is pretty much stocked up for the spring and summer, and even Clark got a few new sleepers

How I'm feeling: really good. I remember by this point in Isaac's pregnancy I was starting to feel pregnant. My back was hurting when I stood for too long, and I had several pregnancy aches and pains. I really don't feel that way this time. I wish I could say it's because I started in better shape or because I've been working out, but not really. I did start out in slightly better shape but I haven't been exercising at all because of my placenta previa. I feel very fortunate so far.

Here's a same shirt/same week comparison from Isaac, both at 24 weeks

For a second, I got excited and thought you were a Hanson fan with the names "Clark" and Isaac for your boys. But then I went back and read the superhero nickname explanation, haha. It all makes sense now.
