Beach or bust!

When I was a kid, family vacations meant packing up the car and going to the beach with my mom, dad, and brother. Every year we went to Myrtle Beach, SC, and when I was a teenager we started going to Hilton Head, SC. It was predictable, yet very fun. The last time we all went on vacation as a family was May 2004. My sister-in-law went with us that time, but she wasn't my SIL yet.

Years went by, we all got busy with school and work, and our schedules didn't allow us a true family vacation. Our family grew. My parents now have a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, and a grandson. This year we decided to go for the family vacation again.

Tomorrow morning at 3 am we will pile into 2 cars and head for the beach. My 14-month-old nephew hates to ride in his carseat, so they're hoping he can sleep most of the way. He's not a good sleeper anyway, so I don't know how that will work out. Luckily, R and I will be in our own car. I'll be sleeping, he'll be driving.

I'm interested to see how this trip works out with the 7 of us. It should be fun.
