- Isaac has this new thing where he thinks everything comes from a store specific to that item. It started a few weeks ago when we went to Dunkin Donuts to get breakfast to take to our small group at church. We told him it was the doughnut store. Now anytime we run out of something at home, we need to go to the "____ store" to get more. "Oh no, mommy! We're out of bananas! We need to get more at the banana store."
- Isaac recently became attached to a stuffed duck that we have had for at least 18 months now, if not 2.5 years. My mom gave it to him one Easter and he didn't really care about it at all...until very recently. He started carrying it around and giving it big hugs, then this weekend he announced that his name was Chi Chi. Rodney tried to convince him to name it Mr. Quacktacular but Isaac insisted it was Chi Chi and has been calling him that ever since. This is the first item he has named completely on his own and I think it's adorable.
- We're hosting Thanksgiving again this year. I think we did it once at our old house (maybe twice?) and last year at our new house, and we're doing it again this year. It's a piece of cake, just clean the house, make mashed potatoes, pop a turkey in the oven. Everyone else brings the rest of the food. Our kitchen is so small and it was interesting last year, but we'll make it work. Just makes it more exciting.
- Isaac is so excited for Christmas this year. I typically never decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving, and I probably still won't this year since we're hosting, but I actually want to now. I blame tv and internet for influencing me. It definitely didn't help when we walked into Home Depot last week and Isaac went crazy in the Christmas section, totally enamored by all the trees and lights. We went to Hobby Lobby and bought him a small sparkly tree for his room, but we won't decorate it until we do the rest of the house.
- We took Levi to church for the first time Sunday. He has been to small group with us several times and to the nursery during small group once, but we decided to attempt the service this week. Small group starts at 9, service starts at 10:30 and lasts until at least 12, if not closer to 12:20. Levi only like to sleep in his rock n play, swing, or crib and isn't a fan of sleeping away from home in someone's arms, so that is a long time for him. We sent him to the nursery during small group and I took him to the service with me. Our church has 2 wonderful "cry rooms" with recliners so that you can nurse or rock a crying baby and still see/hear the service. We were in the cry room before the service even started, maybe around 10:20-10:25, and I fought him until he finally fell asleep around 10:50. That only lasted until 11:20, but it was clear he was not fully rested and was not doing well after that. I was texting Rodney updates the whole time. Here is a snippet of our conversation after Levi woke up. It went downhill fast. We'll try again and maybe we can actually stay the whole time one day.
