How far along: 19 weeks
How big is baby: a mango or a large heirloom tomato, 6 inches and 8.5 ounces, although the ultrasound on Friday showed this one is already approximately 12 ounces (97th percentile!)
Weight gain: 4 lbs total
Stretch marks: none on the belly, minus one small suspicious mark near the belly button. Plenty on my hips and thighs from last pregnancy. I'm still unsure if there are any new stretch marks there or not.
Sleep: I had trouble getting comfortable a few nights and tossed and turned quite a bit. Sometimes I'm up for an hour or more after my nightly trip to the bathroom.
Cravings/aversions: Cadbury creme eggs. Mmmmmm!
Maternity clothes: yes to pants and most shirts, but I'm still fitting in a few longer pre-pregnancy shirts
Movement: daily kicks and small movements
What I'm loving: my new second trimester energy. No more going to bed at 9:00!
Symptoms: By this point last time, my linea nigra had showed up on my belly, but it hasn't arrived yet this time.
What I'm looking forward to: Spring. Not pregnancy related, but I think it will help everyone when we can get outside more.
Best moment of the week: Seeing our little BOY during the ultrasound on Friday. Yes, we found out it's another boy! This pregnancy felt so different from Isaac's, I thought for sure it was a girl. Isaac also thought it was a girl, but Rodney had no feeling one way or the other. I am so excited to see my boys grow up as brothers.
How I'm feeling: I feel like I've hit the sweet spot of pregnancy. I look pregnant but I'm not huge yet. I've got more energy and I'm feeling good. I'm not so big that I can't get in the floor and play with Isaac (and get up easily). My weight gain and blood pressure are looking good.
The ultrasound showed that he looks good as far as they can tell, but it also showed that I have complete placenta previa. That means my placenta is completely covering the opening to my cervix. This can cause heavy bleeding at any time. I'm a little freaked out by this. We'll have another ultrasound to check on it at 28 weeks. From what I've read (thank you, Dr. Google), it seems that in cases of complete previa it is unlikely the placenta will move and often results in an early c-section. Scary stuff, but we're holding out hope that it will move and all will be well. I'm totally ok with another c-section but I'm not ok with him coming before he's ready.
This one is a mover and a shaker! I've felt him tons more at this point than I felt Isaac, and Rodney and I both commented that we don't remember Isaac moving much during his big ultrasound. This one was moving all over the place.
I want to name this baby as soon as possible, but we have a hard time agreeing on boy names. I thought we would never agree on Isaac's name, and he didn't have a middle name until about a week before he was born. We're definitely not the kind of people who choose a name before we know if it's a boy or a girl.
