A few weeks ago I put in an application with the school district here, applying for a job exactly like I had at my old school. Without an education degree you can be a teacher assistant. Most teacher assistants float between classrooms but I was the assistant in the preschool classroom only. I loved it. I worked with a good friend and we had a great class. I was very sad to leave my job.
I have seen several open positions for regular teacher assistants, but when I noticed one for the preschool teacher assistant I got very excited. Finally, a job I want to do! The only problem is, I don't have the certification that they "prefer". Hello, I have the perfect hands-on experience! Unfortunately, school districts are very political and it helps to know someone to get you in.
A couple of nights ago I saw another pre-k assistant position open at another school. Rodney has some coworkers who have connections to that school, so they were supposed to call and put in a good word for me. I emailed the principal yesterday, so we'll see if this comes to anything. An interview would be GREAT!
Now I sit...and wait...
