A nice weekend

I thought we were going to have a disappointing weekend, but it turned out very nice.

My mom came into town on Saturday because my city was hosting a Taste of Home Cooking School. I had never heard of this before, but some ladies from mom's work were going and she invited me along. It was very interesting. We learned how to make 9 yummy-looking dishes. It was time to spend with my mom, too. I live an hour away from her now and see her usually once a week but she misses me so much and it's nice to spend some quality time together. We spent so much time together planning the wedding it seemed like a shock when I moved.

Rodney and I had planned on going to Biltmore Estate on Sunday. Biltmore Estate is located in Asheville, NC and is a spectacular sight to see. George Vanderbilt started construction on the house in 1889 and opened it in 1895. It has 250 rooms, a bowling alley, a swimming pool, a huge spiral staircase, and the most beautiful grounds surrounding it. We went last year and purchased a 12-month pass. We visited several times and got our money's worth. Our pass expires today and we really wanted to visit one more time, but the weather turned cold and rainy, so that didn't happen. I was pretty disappointed. We went last April and saw the beautiful gardens. It's one of our favorite places to be.

So instead of going to Asheville, we decided to stay home and spend time together here. We picked up a few last-minute items for our cruise and rented some movies. We watched Dan In Real Life.

We both really liked it. I'm always so afraid the movies I pick out will be big duds, but this one was enjoyable. It was funny and heartwarming. We spent the rest of the night relaxing and watching our tv shows, Big Brother and Desperate Housewives (finally!). It was a very nice weekend.
Rodney is finishing up tax season this week. Hopefully we can survive without too much stress. Then it is goodbye Tennessee, hello Caribbean!
