snow days

Our part of east Tennessee sees 1-2 good snows per year, plus another 1-2 small snowfalls. Up to this point in the winter, we haven't even seen what I would call a small snowfall, only flurries. This was the most we had seen, and it didn't even close the schools, which is saying a lot. Schools close here for very little snow.

November 2014

Last Monday we got a nasty winter storm that started with snow and quickly changed to sleet and freezing rain. We were covered with ice for days.

Cabin fever set in as the boys didn't have Mother's Day Out and we were stuck inside. Tax season doesn't stop for snow and ice so Rodney ventured in to his office. We were scheduled to take dinner to some friends who just had a baby on Thursday, and the roads were finally pretty clear by then, so that's the only time we left the house all week.

We woke up Saturday morning to a fresh blanket of ice and snow, much more than we got last week. They had been calling for more ice and sleet, but I was surprised that we only got snow, and lots of it! It poured snow on us all morning and I took Isaac out for a little bit while Rodney and Levi stayed in. We tried taking Levi out earlier last week and he didn't like it one bit. We had somewhere around 4 inches of snow, with more ice underneath.

Just as things were thawing out (I even drove myself yesterday!) we woke up to more snow. Really, winter? You hide for months and now dump everything on us at once? We currently have about 3 inches on the ground and the roads are nasty. Looks like we'll be stuck inside all week again.

Spring can't come soon enough!
