house of sick

I am drowning in snot, medicine syringes, rattly chests, and rattly coughs.

The past 2 years Isaac's worst cold has come in February. It's a hard month for us. I knew it was coming. It just surprised me by coming a few days early.

Isaac started coughing last Sunday. The abundant amounts of snot came on Wednesday. Levi had his 6 month well check on Thursday so I called and got Isaac an appointment at the same time just to get him checked while we were there. He tested negative for flu and RSV, so it was diagnosed as just a viral upper respiratory infection. Isaac never acted like he felt bad through the whole thing, praise the Lord. Unfortunately, Levi started coughing on Thursday morning before his appointment, but he didn't have a fever so our pediatrician felt comfortable giving him his vaccinations.

Long story short Levi quickly went downhill on Thursday with clear cold symptoms, plus a fever the next few days. We're still not exactly sure if it was from the shots or from his infection, but it finally went away after 3 days. He was miserable all weekend, not too congested but coughed a lot.

We went back to the doctor Monday morning and got a double ear infection diagnosis (he was also negative for flu and RSV). My poor baby. He goes back and forth between happy and miserable. If he is well-rested, just ate, and heavily medicated he is the happiest baby ever. If it has been a while since any of those things, heaven help us. There is nothing worse than seeing your baby sick.

Our pediatrician advised us to schedule another appointment for Friday in case his cough wasn't better, but said we could cancel if he was doing ok, so we'll see how that goes.

On top of his cold and double ear infection, we're dealing with some 6 month separation anxiety and teething. I want my happy baby back.

Is it spring yet?

Look at my teeth!
