Someone asked me a few days ago how old Isaac is and I said "almost 2". Wow!
Isaac adjusted better than I could have hoped to the new house. He stayed with his grandparents the day of the move and the first night, just so we could sort out some of the chaos before he came home. I expected a few minor sleep pattern changes for a few days, he didn't skip a beat.
He went through a big tractor phase this month. He found 2 small tractors that he insisted on carrying everywhere with him (at least one). He loves to roll them all over the floor, walls, my arms, and my head. One is red like his papaw's tractor and the other is green like uncle Cecil's tractor. He loves to tell me whose tractor it is.
Isaac wears shoes most of the day, by his own choice. I sometimes hide his shoes just so we don't have to go through the frustration of him putting them on by himself.
Sweeping has become another obsession. We never had to sweep the old house because it was all carpet, so he loved the vacuum there (tat-tat), but now he tries to grab the broom from me every time I pull it out. Seep! Seep! I really need to get him a small Isaac-sized broom.
He is still in love with Mickey Mouse, but watching Doc McStuffins runs a close second.
A couple of months ago I wrote about how Isaac wanted to sleep with Elmo every night. Soon after that he decided he liked to sleep with his small Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, then we got him a Grover, so if were up to him he would sleep with all four plus his small blanket and his large blanket. He gets both blankets every night but I limit the "friends" to two.
His vocabulary is growing at a rapid pace. All it takes is you telling him a word once or twice and he knows it from then on. He has over 100 single words (according to my list, and I'm sure I've missed some) that he says regularly, but he is not putting any of them together to form 2-word phrases or 'sentences' yet.
We bought a potty this month, but we are nowhere near potty-training yet. Isaac loves to sit on the potty (clothed more than naked) and carry it around the house, and he will tell me when he needs a diaper change, but I know he's still not ready. I'm certainly not going to push it before he's ready, but it's nice to know he's making progress.
He keeps us laughing all the time, and sometimes we have to turn our backs so he won't see us laughing. I'm constantly amazed at how fast he is learning, and I love it. He'll be smarter than me soon! He's such a good kid, and we are constantly reminded of how blessed we are to be his parents.
