18 months

This boy never stops moving. If he's awake, he is moving at all times. It's exhausting. I don't know how he does it. It's impossible to get a good picture of him anymore because a) he doesn't stop moving, and b) he refuses to look at the camera. Heaven forbid you try to make him sit still for a picture.

We had his 18 month checkup today, and he weighs 26 pounds (51%)  and is 32 inches tall (42%). He wears size 5 diapers, size 5 shoes, and some 18 months clothes, some 18-24, just depending on the brand. He's growing super fast. I bought lots of 18 month clothes for spring and summer, but I feel like they're getting smaller by the day, so I'm now buying all 24 month clothes (except for shorts...buying for kids is hard!)

His favorite word this month is definitely "okay", usually said very enthusiastically. After much soul-searching, I've realized he picked this up from me and I say it way too frequently. "Do you want to eat breakfast? Ok, let's go." "Do you want to read a book? Ok, bring it here."

Rodney and I do a lot of translating lately. I used to wonder how parents could tell you what a string of jibberish words meant, but now I understand. You just know. You're the one that was around when you figured out that "sa-sash" means "wishy-washy" (his favorite books, Mrs. Wishy Washy and Mr. Wishy Washy). You just know.

New words this month include car, banana, Jesus, cookie, waffle, turtle, hat, rooster, block, rock, eat, fruit, baby, Aimee, peaches, wagon, and puzzle. He can also identify and name a circle, star, heart, square, and not-as-distinguishable triangle, rectangle, oval, and diamond. He points them out whenever he sees them. I'm still trying to keep a list of the all the words he knows, but it's getting harder and harder. I know I miss a few here and there.

He saw a helicopter this month while staying with my mom when we were out of town last weekend, and she said he loved it and kept pointing to the sky hours after it passed. I think that was the first helicopter he has ever seen.

He loves climbing now.

He is also using his growing height as an advantage. Nothing on the edge of a table or counter is safe anymore. I have to remember to push everything to the back or else he will reach his little arm up and pull it down.
Exhibit A:

I was negligent and left an open bag of cheese on the table after snack. I went to his room to put away clothes and came back to this scene. Cheese just happens to be Cash's favorite food.

He has added Chicka Chicka Boom Boom to his list of favorite books. I always point to each letter as I say it, and I have found him looking at the book by himself, pointing at various points on the pages. So cute! He still loves books, but instead of being picky and only liking the same 3 or 4, he now will randomly bring me books from the shelf (but still has his favorites too). It's just about the only time he sits still and "cuddles" with me, so I love it.

18 months. Halfway between one and two. A bundle of energy.

He's so cute! It's crazy how all these blog babies are growing up. :)
