This post did not turn out at all like I had pictured, but oh well. Here it is.
Weekend project #2 from last weekend didn't get completely finished until this weekend.
Last Friday, Rodney sent me a text message that said "I'm in the mood to do a home improvement project this weekend." I was shocked. That is not something that comes out of his mouth often. My first suggestion was to paint the kitchen, since that is something we have been talking about for years, and he has promised we will eventually get to it. He did not like that suggestion, saying it was more than he had in mind. We settled instead on painting our small guest bathroom. We had to work with the same lovely royal blue carpet that covers most of our floors and a royal blue countertop. I wanted a light gray with a hint of blue, but we ended up with more blue than gray. It's fine, but not exactly what I wanted.
These pictures are not good at all, but use your imagination. I have two things working against me. One, the lighting in the bathroom is HORRIBLE, and two, I suck at white balance.
Before:
The difference in minimal in the pictures, but looks much better in person. You'll just have to trust me on this one. We changed the outlet covers to white, which made a huge difference and really pulls the room together.
This print hangs above the toilet (although I did change the colors):
It wasn't a huge change, but we like it. Rodney commented last during during Isaac's bathtime that he really likes it and it looks so much cleaner with the white contrasts. That was my biggest pet peeve before. The walls were the same color as the trim, but now the trim stands out.
Next up, the kitchen! We currently have paint chips scattered around the room, and I stare at them every day. Rodney knows it will be a bigger task and says he probably won't feel up to it until after vacation next month, so we have plenty of time to decide. I can't wait!
