Stomach flu, stomach virus, stomach bug...whatever you call it, it hit our house hard the past few days.
It all started last Friday. It was a normal morning and we had a normal lunch at home. We were having a yard sale the next day so I needed to take the boys to Office Max to pick up a few supplies. We loaded into the car pretty soon after lunch and halfway there Levi vomited up everything in the car. It was disgusting, and no one likes cleaning vomit out of a car seat, but I'm glad it didn't happen in the middle of Office Max. We got home and Isaac was super understanding as I took care of Levi and put him in the bathtub (although Isaac was sad he didn't get to take a bath too). Levi vomited once more before nap, then again in his bed when he woke up, and one final time about 30 minutes later, every time getting progressively less as his stomach emptied.
He loved his midday bath and felt great, but quickly went downhill again and only wanted to lay around on me.

the bug that wouldn't die
Around dinner time he started to get very fussy, and we debated whether it was sick or hungry, but finally realized for sure that he was hungry. We fed him a little and had to distract him because he was mad that it was over. We ended up feeding him a little more before bed and he was never sick again, waking up totally normal the next day. It was the easiest virus ever.
We had our yard sale on Saturday and collapsed into bed that night after an exhausting day. A little after midnight Isaac came into our bedroom and said he was sick. Rodney and I both got up and cleaned up Isaac, his bed, and our bedroom floor. From that point on he was sick every 30-60 minutes until 6 or 7 am. My sickness started a couple of hours after Isaac, so Rodney was on nurse duty all day Sunday.
Rodney got sick starting Sunday night. I was feeling better on Monday, just very weak and tired, but Isaac still wasn't keeping down food. Monday was spent forcing fluids down Isaac and trying to get little bits of food in him. By Monday night after bath he was acting 100% normal, bouncing around and being silly like he always does. He slept all night Monday night but Tuesday morning he was back to zero energy. He couldn't do anything but lay on the couch, so I once again made it my mission to get some food in his body. After a small lunch he was doing considerably better and woke up from nap almost normal.
Today has been 100% normal. Thank goodness! That was definitely the sickest Isaac has ever been and it was hard to see. He took around 4 mini naps on Sunday on the couch and in our bed, and an impromptu morning nap on the couch on Monday and Tuesday, with a normal afternoon nap in his bed as well.
This happened after his first week back at Mother's Day Out, which was during the first week of real school too. I hope this is not a sign of how our fall and winter will be.
