I really need to jot down some of the random thoughts going through my head and document things happening in our life right now, but for some reason I never make it over to the blog to do that.
- Levi is taking steps! He started taking 3-4 steps on July 6 when prompted (stand him up, back away, and encourage him to come to you). He does that off and on every day, but now a few times a day I see him stand up by himself and walk a few steps to something that he wants. He's still nowhere near "walking", but he's doing better every day.
- The boys are starting to "fight" more, instead of always playing together happily. Levi always wants what Isaac has and Isaac has become very protective over his toys. As Jill from Baby Rabies said on Instagram last week, little brother has become little BOTHER.
- On the fourth of July, my neighbor's adult son was visiting. He backed out of the driveway quickly and backed over their dog, a big beautiful labrador retriever. I didn't see it happen but I did actually see my neighbors see it happen. It was very scary and traumatizing. I immediately ran out to see how I could help. Levi was sleeping and Rodney was on the treadmill so Isaac followed me outside. I was very thankful for his sake that Wrangler looked fine other than a large cut on his paw and a spot on his face. He was sitting up and acting fine but they immediately took him to the vet to check for internal injuries. Everything checked out normal, other than a very traumatic day for my neighbors. Wrangler is now back to normal. His paws are unbandaged and he is back to chasing balls, his favorite thing in the world. It's truly a miracle.
- I went to the eye doctor last week and mentioned that I need new glasses because mine are very old and scratched and I can tell the prescription has changed. I only wear them at night but I'm definitely ready for a new pair. The nurse looked in my file and we were all shocked when she said I got those in 1998! I was 15 years old! I'm very soon to be 31, so that means I have worn those glasses for more than half my life. Yes, definitely time for new glasses.
- Isaac went on a nap strike a few months ago, but I stayed strong with "rest time" and he is now back to napping like a champ. In fact, some days he actually tells me when he's ready for a nap. The rest of the days he willingly and easily goes to his room when it's time and falls asleep quickly. Hallelujah!
- I love catching a good deal and buying clothes on sale for next year, but it's so hard to guess with Levi. Isaac was always very true to size and still is, but Levi has kind of been all over the place. I wasn't sure if he would be in 18-24 months next summer or 2T. The other day I was in Baby Gap and saw their awesome end of season sale going on and couldn't resist buying a few things. The 18-24 month shirts looked plenty big, so I bought several of those for Levi and matching shirts in 4T for Isaac. I really hope they work, and if not, they were a great deal so I won't be out too much. The boys got 3 sets of matching shirts and a set of coordinating stripes where I couldn't get the sizes I needed in matching.
- Yes, I'm that mom that matches her boys. I had the option to buy a lot of matching clothes for the boys this summer but I couldn't decide if I wanted to or not. I ended up buying them because I like the clothes for both of them, but it took me a while to decide if I wanted them to wear the same things at the same time. I finally decided yes, not every time, but it makes me so happy to see them looking cute together. I'm especially smitten with matching pajamas!
