3 months

It was hard to get a decent picture this month because the boy wanted to chew on his hands and hide his "3".

Isaac's third month has been just as exciting as the first two.  He changed so much developmentally this month.

We don't have a doctor's appointment this month, so no official height and weight statistics, although last Monday he weighed 11 lb 12 oz, so he's probably somewhere around 12 lbs now.

Isaac goes to bed around 9 pm and sleeps all the way through until 8 am or a little after.  We are working on transitioning him to his crib, so that sleep schedule may get a little mixed up, but hopefully not too much.

We struggled with his daytime sleep for a while this month.  He got into a pattern of taking 40-60 minute naps, which was totally unlike him.  He seems to have settled back into his old pattern again, anywhere from 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes.

His newest tricks this month are chewing on his hands and trying to sit up.  Who knows if this means he will be an early sitter, but he definitely tries to raise up if he's in any reclined position.  The swing, the bouncer, the boppy, the bathtub, you name it.  He's folding himself in half to try to sit up.  The bouncer used to be my safe place I could leave him if I needed to grab some food or throw in a load of laundry, but I'm not so sure anymore.

We entered the unfortunate world of bibs this month.  The drool that this boy can produce is amazing, and I know it is only going to get worse.  It's especially bad when's he in his bumbo seat or during tummy time, when he is focusing really hard on something.

He's in the very early stages of reaching for items and holding them.  If I put a small toy near his hand he will open his fingers slightly, like he wants to take it but still isn't quite sure how to do it.

My favorite part of the day is when I go to get him out of his crib after a nap.  As soon as he sees me he breaks out into a big smile.  I love seeing my boy smile just because he sees me, just because I'm his mom.

As for me 3 month postpartum, I have reached the hair loss phase.  It started a week or two ago, when I noticed more hair was coming out in the shower.  In the past few days I have noticed it happening during the day as well.  I'm constantly finding single random hairs all over me, but I hear you start losing it in clumps eventually.  Awesome.

Isaac loves when I sing to him.  I used to make up silly songs about whatever we were doing, but lately whenever I change his diaper I'll sing "Have I Told You Lately" and that gets some pretty big smiles out of him.

Our boy loves his momma but he definitely loves his daddy too.  Isaac loves watching everything Rodney does when he comes home and listens to him so intently.  Sometimes I think it's just because it's someone different and he's sick of seeing my face all day, but he has a real soft spot for his daddy.  I love listening to Rodney read him books before bed.  Last week R read him "The Very Lonely Firefly" by Eric Carle.  At the end of the book there are tiny lights that light up and flicker, representing the fireflies.  Evidently R had not read that one before and told me later that he was just as surprised as Isaac when he got to the end.  Oh man, I wish I would have been there for that one.

I miss my tiny squishy newborn but I love that he is learning new things every day and I'm excited as we move from newborn to infant.
